Asia Pacific Plugs Into WiMax

A new study by Instat indicates a growing interest in WiMax in Asia Pacific. According to the analyst firm, WiMax will become a $4.3 billion market in the region by 2011, a big leap from the 2006 level of $106.4 million. In-Stat analyst Victor Liu said “no Asia Pacific service provider can ignore WiMax … Providers need either to evaluate the possibility of adding WiMax to their existing services portfolio, or to assess the competitive pressure from other WiMax service providers.” The study shows that deployments of WiMax networks are being undertaken in 13 countries, including India, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia.
