Schools Could Be The First In U.S. To Use WiMax

The FCC allocated parts of the 2.5 Ghz spectrum for schools to use for educational broadcasts. Unfortunatly it has’nt really been used and the FCC is threatening to take away the valuable spectrum in 2008 unless they start using it. The solution for some seems to be a mobile WiMax installation the provide low-income students with broadband access at home. There are alot of technical challenges at the moment and it remains to be seen if the project will get off the ground.
